Cycling Assessment: MOT & Pedal Technique
Most cyclists over 40 are training without knowing what's actually holding them back.
The Performance MOT changes that.
Cycling Performance MOT & Pedal Technique Assessment

Understand exactly how you move, train and recover. Leave with a clear, prioritised plan and the confidence to act on it.
£299 - and if you go on to join Elevate, credited in full against your partnership investment.
Ideal for cyclists of all levels looking to improve efficiency and comfort on the bike. Tailored feedback provided.
Thinking about Elevate? Your £299 MOT investment is credited in full if you go on to join.
Who is this for
This assessment is designed for cyclists over 40 who are serious about understanding their performance, not just guessing at it.
It's particularly valuable if you:
- Have been riding consistently but stopped improving
- Keep getting the same niggling injuries
- Aren't sure if your training structure is right for where you are now
- Are considering Elevate and want to make a fully informed decision
- Simply want an expert eye on how you're actually cycling and recovering
What actually happens
Here's exactly what the 90 minutes looks like:
1. Pre-assessment questionnaire
Before your session Togo reviews your training history, goals, injury history and current approach. He comes prepared.
2. Pedal technique analysis
A detailed assessment of how you're actually transferring power. Where efficiency is being lost, where technique is costing you energy, and what small changes would make the biggest difference.
3. Training and recovery review
How your current training structure maps against your physiology, flexibility life demands and recovery capacity after 40. What's working, what isn't, and why.
4. Performance conversation
An honest, direct conversation about what your data and assessment reveal — not generic advice, but specific findings about you.
5. Written summary within 48 hours
A clear document outlining your findings, prioritised recommendations and practical next steps. Something you keep and can act on immediately.
6. Follow-up call
A short follow-up to discuss the summary, answer questions and confirm your next steps, whether that's implementing the recommendations independently or exploring Elevate
What you leave with
- A clear understanding of exactly what's limiting your performance right now
- Specific, prioritised recommendations - not a generic plan
- An honest assessment of how your training structure fits your physiology and life after 40
- Practical pedal technique adjustments you can implement immediately
- A written summary to keep and refer back to
The Elevate Credit
Thinking about Elevate but not ready to commit?
Most Elevate partnerships begin with a Performance MOT. It's how Togo understands how you move, train and respond before making any long-term recommendations.
If you go on to join Elevate after your MOT, your full £299 investment is credited against your partnership. The MOT effectively becomes a free diagnostic.
FAQs
Is the MOT online or in person?
We can do both. In person at out studio in Teddington or Hampton SW London or online via video call. If online you'll need your bike set up on a trainer so Togo can observe your pedal technique and movement in real time with your camera clearly covering your whole body. Full joining instructions are sent after booking.
What do I need for the session?
Your bike on a trainer, cycling shoes, heart rate monitor if you have one, and any performance data you'd like to share, recent rides, FTP test results, training history. None of this is essential but the more context Togo has, the more specific the assessment.
How quickly will I receive my written summary?
Within 48 hours of your session. The summary covers all findings, prioritised recommendations and practical next steps.
What if I decide to join Elevate after the MOT?
Your full £299 MOT investment is credited against your Elevate partnership. It's deducted from the first payment — no complicated process, just a straightforward credit.
Can I do the MOT even if I'm not considering Elevate?
Absolutely. The MOT is a standalone assessment that's valuable regardless of whether you go on to coaching. Many cyclists book it specifically to get an expert view on their technique and training structure without any intention of joining a programme. The findings and recommendations stand on their own.
How is this different from a bike fit?
A bike fit focuses on your position on the bike. The Performance MOT goes significantly further - it covers how you move, how your training is structured, how you're recovering, and how your life and physiology interact with your performance. It's a whole-cyclist assessment, not just a position check.
