Day-to-day Itinerary

Each day on this trip has been thoughtfully designed to strike the perfect balance between challenge, reward, and pure enjoyment. From leg-loosening loops to lung-busting climbs, every ride brings something different, with time to pause, soak up the views, and savour the culture along the way.

You'll be supported by our experienced Njinga team, ride in pace-matched groups, and enjoy fully guided routes with GPX files, van backup and recovery built in. Whether you're pushing your limits on Challenge day or toasting your effort with a well earned G&T, you're in for four days of riding you won’t forget.

34km / 390m climbing

Ease into the adventure with a relaxed 20–30km spin to shake out the travel legs. We’ll roll gently from our base toward Lake Bled for a coffee stop, take in the scenery, and settle into Slovenia before the big days ahead.

96 km and 1710 m climbing

Our first major test, a breathtaking route from Zasip up through Kranjska Gora, over the soaring Vršič Pass, and down into the tranquil Trenta Valley. Expect switchbacks, specatualr scenery, and serious satisfaction. Refuel with lunch in Kranjska Gora before the scenic return ride home.

53 km and 1150 m climbing

A lighter, social day exploring Slovenia’s natural beauty. Enjoy a relaxed ride looping around Lake Bled and the lesser-known neighbouring lake within Triglav National Park. Expect rolling terrain, forest-lined roads, and plenty of photo stops.

80 or 150 km and 841 or 2118 m climbing

We’ll transfer with bikes to Kranj to take on the official L’Étape du Tour Slovenia, a spectacular sportive on closed roads through stunning landscapes. Ride at your own pace, soak up the atmosphere, and celebrate at the finish before we return to base.

The Njinga Difference.

Most cycling trips feel transactional. Ours feel like family.

You’ll be welcomed like an old friend, fuelled like a champion and make memories of a lifetime. From epic climbs to espresso stops, and celebratory pasta feasts at the villa - this is what keeps riders coming back again and again.

Togo and Leigh have created something really special — their attention to detail, support on and off the bike, and the great people they bring together make it an unforgettable experience. Everything ran smoothly, the routes were stunning, and the whole week was a perfect balance of challenge and fun.

Accommodation

Rest, recharge, and soak in the views.

A peaceful base between climbs and culture.

After a rewarding day in the saddle, retreat to our peaceful villa a few minutes outside of Lake Bled. With panoramic views of the mountains, fresh produce from the farm and rustic charm, it’s the perfect setting to unwind, reflect, and connect with fellow riders — or simply put your feet up and enjoy a quiet moment to yourself.

  • The rooms are simple yet full of traditional character, choose between a private room with ensuite or share an apartment with individual rooms and a shared bathroom. (MAX 2 people sharing) for added comfort.
  • Our accommodation is chosen to bring the group together, to share stories from the ride, refuel together, and build connection, while still giving you the privacy and space to relax when you need it.
Their organisation is excellent, but what truly sets them apart is the community, intimacy and support they foster before, during and after — supportive, welcoming, and full of genuine care. That spirit makes the whole experience unforgettable. I’m hooked for next year already - can't wait.

local cuisine

Fuel for the ride, Connection for the soul.

We always put great emphasis on our food and this trip is no different.

At Njinga, food isn’t an afterthought — it’s a key part of the experience. From energising breakfasts to hearty, buffet dinners, every meal is designed to nourish your body, satisfy your taste buds, and bring the group together. Ride hard, eat well, and share the day’s stories around the table.

  • Wake up to a perfect breakfast each morning ensuring your body is fully fuelled for your days cycling. ( Cooked porridge obligatory ;-) )
  • Each night we will feast on tasty local produce, including dessert and a glass of wine. (Three nights will be at the villa and one night in the nearby town sampling the best of the region.)
  • We can cater for vegan and gluten free for an additional cost (please email us to enquire).
  • Excludes lunches and coffees on route each day.

"It exceeded all my expectations! Although the rides were challenging, everyone was really friendly, the atmosphere was relaxed and we had plenty of time for coffee and cake stops! The villa was great and the food was really delicious."

Yes, there will be a ride captain/coach leading 2 different speed groups each day. Depending on group ability, stronger riders can start slightly later each day or ride ahead to the coffee stop if needed. Everyone will receive all the route GPX files prior to departure.

There is a limited number of flights to Ljubljana every day. To maximise your time in Slovenia it may be necessary to fly out on Easyjet on Thursday 3rd Sep and return on BA on the Monday 7th Sep. Transfers are included in the price. Flights must be purchased separately, but please wait for us to e-mail the flight details before you book as we need to group arrivals.

Yes - travel insurance is compulsory for all Njinga trips.

While we do everything possible to ensure your experience runs smoothly, cycling trips naturally involve a level of risk, from unexpected injuries or illness to travel disruptions, lost luggage, or bike damage. Having comprehensive travel insurance gives you peace of mind knowing that you’re protected if something doesn’t go to plan. Your policy should specifically cover cycling (including sportives or endurance rides, if applicable) as well as medical emergencies, trip cancellation, and personal belongings.

We recommend taking out your policy as soon as you book your place, so you’re covered for any unforeseen events before the trip begins. Please note that proof of adequate travel insurance is required before departure. If you’re unsure what level of cover you need, we’re happy to offer guidance or recommend trusted providers experienced in cycling travel.

If you are no longer able to make the trip and need to cancel, you have the following options:

- 2 months or more from date of departure - you lose your £250 deposit only

- 0-2 months from date of departure and you have already paid the full balance, 0% refund. If however you are able to find a replacement rider, there will be a £30 charge to transfer the booking into someone else’s name provided you find someone and they pay the full amount owed.

If there is any reason the trip has to be cancelled which is out of our control, we will transfer your payment onto a future trip.

If it is due to our own decision, we will refund you the full amount already paid. In both instances we are not responsible for any flights or other relevant expenses you may be liable for in the event of having to cancel so strongly recommend you take out travel insurance as suggested above.

Our post-ride meals are the reward every cyclist deserves: hearty, packed with flavour, and served family-style so there's always enough for seconds. Each dish is crafted for optimal recovery without sacrificing taste, finished with homemade dessert and a well-earned glass of wine. It's food that brings everyone together: the perfect blend of flavour, fuel, and good company after a long day on the bike.
