Struggling to do 30km Rides to Conquering Britain in 11 Days
Trevor started out struggling to do 30km rides. Less than a year later, he cycled the length of Britain in 11 days. How he turned an impossible challenge into a life-changing achievement.
- FTP +50 watts (200→ 250W)
- 15kg lighter
- Completed LEJOG x km & x m climbing
- Elevate

Before Njinga
When Trevor signed up for LEJOG, the challenge felt overwhelming. His cycling mates were all seasoned cyclists and he felt he was the weakest link. Even 30km rides left him struggling, and the idea of riding 1,000 miles in less than two weeks felt impossible.
“I’d done a few triathlons and the odd sportive, but nothing like this. I knew I couldn’t just wing it - I needed a coach. My weaknesses were obvious: not enough time on the bike, legs not fit for cycling, and I was overweight. Even just getting my muscles used to riding regularly was a big hurdle"
Enter Njinga
After a call with Togo, he signed up for Njinga coaching. The difference was immediate. Suddenly, there was structure instead of guesswork, weekly accountability and encouragement at every step.
"Nothing felt as good as what Togo was offering. It wasn’t cheap, but I was committed, and I trusted his background and approach."
At first, he focused on building consistency - just getting Trevor's legs used to regular training. Then the sessions grew longer, the intensity sharper, and the results began to stack up. He started with 30k rides feeling hard. By the end, he was riding 170k training days with confidence.

The Transformation
The numbers tell the story as much as the rides did: His FTP jumped from 200 to 250w+. He shed 15 kilos with a smarter approach to fuelling, including going gluten-free on Togo’s advice. And hills, once his biggest weakness, became something he genuinely enjoyed.
More importantly, his confidence soared. The consistency, the clear progression, and the regular check-ins gave him not just fitness, but belief he could do it.
The Big Ride
When June 2025 arrived, he was ready. LEJOG meant 11 days, 1,000 miles, and 80 miles a day on the bike. But thanks to the training, he said it never felt overwhelming.
“I’d trained so hard that when the ride came, I could just enjoy it. I finished not as the weakest, but as one of the stronger riders in the group.”

Looking Back
He admits he hesitated at first - investing in coaching felt like a big decision. But the payoff was clear.
“It was worth every penny. Njinga didn’t just get me through LEJOG -they transformed me into a different rider. From someone struggling with 30km rides, to riding across Britain in 11 days. That’s a transformation I’ll never forget.”
"I finished LEJOG as one of the stronger riders in the group. I trained so hard that the event itself felt almost easy"
