The bicycle can change lives
Together we train hard and achieve great things but we also strive to always pay it forward. Year after year, our extraordinary community comes together to support local charities and those in Africa to help make a difference, no matter how small. Whether it's bringing a smile to the faces of children at Shooting Star Hospice or raising funds for those struggling with food and fresh water shortages, the bicycle really can make a difference.
Annual Santa Cycle
Can we collectively ride 13,636 km in 48 hours?
100 riders cycling 100km and raising £100 each
Can 364 riders beat a Jumbo flying 3456 miles from London to JFK?
For the last 11 years, along with 100s of other cycling Santas, we've cycled our 20 km route from Richmond, SW London to deliver gifts to the incredible children at Shooting Star Children's Hospice in Hampton who are suffering with life limiting illnesses.
It’s grown from humble beginnings 11 years ago to an annual must do activity on the Richmond Festive season calendar.
Since we started this journey with Shooting Star we have delivered over 6000 Christmas presents to the kids and raised thousands of pounds for this fantastic charity each year.
Xmas hasn't started until you've done the Santa cycle.
We started with a crazy idea to see if we could get the Njinga community involved in a last-minute fundraising event and as usual, they did not disappoint. The challenge: To get 100 riders to each ride 100km and raise £100 for charity. We had a fantastic day out with riders joining locally but also virtually to help us reach our target with many local cycling clubs coming together for this great cause. We has members from The Njinga Collective, Bella Velo, Ditton Velo, Waldy Wheelers, London Dynamo and Verulam CC.
Together we raised a fantastic £9342.24 for Big Change an awesome charity that is creating a society where every young person is set up to thrive in life, not just exams.
For three years running we managed over 35 Team Heathrow companies bringing them together to race an aeroplane on stationary bikes and raise over £300,000 for charities, including Oxfam and Duke of Edinbugh Trust.
A success in every sense: we overcame the considerable logistical challenges of running such an event in a working international airport; dealing with over 360 riders of all abilities and we can proudly say:
The cyclists have beaten the plane each year!
