ITINERARY

DAY 1: East Meets West Coast Ride (40-56km & 170-390m)

Mid afternoon warm up ride to the end of the island to stretch the legs and see the breathtaking Prasonisi beach where the east coast meets the west.
Coffee stop on route before heading back to the village.
(Distance dependant on arrival time that day).

DAY 2: Njinga Challenge Ride (114km & 2000m)

We'll head in land on quiet roads and climb up to the highest villages on the island passing famous monasteries, national pine forests and olive groves. We will be climbing for roughly 29km and gaining over 550m, before descending down the west coast of the island, experiencing incredible views of the sea. Finally we return back to the East coast, finishing on the beach for celebratory drinks and a swim before the sun goes down. Lunch and coffee stops on route.

DAY 3: The Little Goat  (61km & 620m)

Heading back in land we climb up to the mountainous villages of Profilia and Istrios before descending down along the beautiful and rugged west coast road. This ride will have you earning your coffee and mountain view as we'll have a 4km (optional) timed climb segment up to Profilia to see who earns the Njinga mountain goat bragging rights. Lunch and coffee stops on route.

DAY 4: East Coast Roller (44km & 370m)

A shorter relaxed ride along the East coast hugging the sea where we'll pass amazing beaches and bays before reaching the town of Lindos which is by far the most beautiful town on the island. We'll explore the quaint little streets and ancient castle ruins then have lunch at one of the incredible roof top restaurants before heading home and stopping at the beach for a swim and drink at a local taverna. Lunch and coffee stop on route (plus option to swim).

DAY 5: Bonus - Monastery Meander (52km & 750m or 37km & 400m)

Early morning ride before check out to see the famous Monastery in Skiadi. There will be a shorter unsupported 37km ride available for those that prefer a chilled ride along the coast to do some last minute shopping or simply to grab a coffee at the beach and get your last swim in.

"The rides were beautiful but challenging with a fantastic group of riders. As always Togo seemed to get that little bit extra out of us all, and I was left feeling invigorated and enthusiastic about my riding." Martin Francis

ACCOMMODATION

* We will be staying in self-contained villas in a traditional Rhodes village, in the quieter south east side of the island.

* Each villa sleeps between 1 and 4 people, (single supplement is possible) with access to our own private pool area.

* There is also plenty of space for "non-riders", so partners are welcome to join with close proximity to the beach to relax and explore during the day.

* The accommodation we choose is focused on bringing everyone together to recount the days riding, while still having your own privacy to retreat for a post ride nap.

* We have been told it’s the community feel, camaraderie and group support, no matter what level of rider, that keeps everyone coming back.

"Even when I felt like giving up you were there to help me through. It did not feel like a group or team - it felt more like a cycling family."
Clare Long

Highlights

"Stunning scenery, empty roads, a challenging few days riding that made great early season training. Food and hospitality were second to none. An excellent and highly recommended 4 days... with a touch of mountain rain making for a richer experience!

DELICIOUS FOOD

We always put great emphasis on our food and this trip is no different.
However this time we are mixing things up a little.

* We've been going to this village for more than 30 years and know all the best places to get a true taste of "mamas Greek cooking."

* We will therefore still be preparing the perfect breakfast for you each morning to ensure your body is fuelled correctly for your days cycling adventure. However, at night we will leave it to the experts so you get a true taste of all the flavours and love put into traditional Greek cooking.

* Post ride smoothies and G&Ts by the pool will ALWAYS be part of our trips but this time we'll also be able to walk down to the beach for sundowners.

* We can cater for vegan and gluten free for an additional cost.

CAMARADERIE AND SUPPORT

 * Our number 1 consistent feedback is the support and encouragement of the Njinga community that keeps everyone coming back. Not only from the friendly and supportive staff but the riders themselves, driving each other on to push a little harder.

* The difference is doing a cycling tour where you get to meet new friends while also sharing the road with existing mates from past tours or rideouts back home. The focus on these trips is fun, laughter and sharing new experiences together.

"The evenings are a perfect wind down, great food, little bit of wine and lots of banter. Really awesome trip!" Sam Taylor

Yes, there will be a ride Captain/coach leading the ride each day at a min 23 kph pace. Depending on group ability, stronger riders can start slightly later each day or ride ahead to coffee stop if needed. Everyone will receive all the route GPX files prior to departure.

Yes, travel insurance is a must, particularly with all the Covid uncertainty and changes happening. We will do our best to ensure the trip goes ahead as planned but please see our Covid specific policy below.

If the trip is affected by any changes implemented by the government in either the UK or Greece we will do the following:

- If we are unable to travel on the specified dates due to new travel restrictions put in place, we will offer you a credit towards another trip later in the year.

- If you test positive for Covid prior to departure and are no longer able to travel, we will do our best to try and accommodate you on a future trip but we are a small business and unfortunately can not absorb the cost for any changes out of our control. We shall have no liability to you for any refunds, compensation, losses, costs, expenses or damages you incur. These are risks which you must protect through obtaining comprehensive travel insurance which includes cover against any COVID-19 issues or incidents which may affect your booking.

- We are not responsible for any flights or other relevant expenses you may be liable for in the event of having to cancel so strongly recommend you take out travel insurance as suggested above.

If there is any other reason the trip has to be cancelled which is out of our control, we will transfer your payment onto another trip running later in the year. If it is due to our own decision, we will refund you the full amount already paid.

In both instances we are not responsible for any flights or other relevant expenses you may be liable for in the event of having to cancel so strongly recommend you take out travel insurance as suggested above.

If you are no longer able to make the trip and need to cancel, you have the following options:

2 months or more from date of departure - you lose your £250 deposit only
0-2 months from date of departure and you have already paid the full balance, 0% refund

If however you are able to find a replacement rider, there will be a £30 charge to transfer the booking into someone else’s name provided you find someone and they pay the full amount owed.

As there are multiple back to back days of riding with a fair amount of climbing, we recommend you are comfortable maintaining a speed of 23 kph & 80-120km
