We offer a range of Nutritional and Performance tests to help you fine tune your training both  on and off the bike. Choose from the  tests listed below.

VO2 max is a valuable physiological marker for your current state of fitness, in addition the gas analysis measurements will allow you to determine the point at which your body is using fat as the primary energy source as opposed to carbohydrates and your current economy ratings. By analysing expired gases we can identify the critical point known as the anaerobic threshold (AT). The AT is crucial for development of accurate heart rate zones and training parameters. Utilizing the information from the VO2 max test we can identify the most appropriate training intensity and type of training for you specifically. If you would like to improve your ability to deal with lactate or train within an 'intensity zone' that primarily uses fat as an energy source, this test can provide the information required.


The VO2 Max test results made a huge difference to my cycling. I configure my Garmin with the heart rate zones from the VO2 Max test results so that I can tell instantly how sustainable the effort that I am putting in is during a ride.  The recent 223k Dragon ride sportive in Wales was 50k further than I had ever ridden and the first time I had ridden real mountains, so regulating my efforts to lower heart rate zones where possible was the key. Whether you are a fitness warrior, beginner cyclist or experienced rider, you will be able to benefit dramatically from a Functional Threshold Power (FTP) Test. The FTP assessment we do is a measure of your current fitness using a single metric measurement of power (watts) over a defined period.

By measuring your fitness and assigning it a number, we not only track changes in your fitness over weeks, months, even years, but we can establish training zones i.e. power levels to ride in during our classes at the lab. Then as your fitness changes, we can update these power levels. With regards to what's taking place within your body, within the muscles themselves, riding at your FTP pushes you right up to that limit where pushing any harder will drastically limit the duration of your ride.

The FTP Test is 45 minutes and includes a structured warm up and cooldown.



The thorough laboratory analysis assesses your overall nutritional status and identifies functional need for antioxidants, B-complex vitamins, minerals and amino acids. The test also assesses cellular energy production, detoxification, nervous system and digestive function. This test is useful in determining overal nutritional health and any biochemical inbalances.


Your results help to determine your personal nutrition programme.






The Stress Check is a simple way to discover the effect of stress on your overall health and determine the nutritional steps you can take to improve your stress tolerance. It's useful in understanding stages of over training. Stress can affect digestive health, immune function, bone health, mood and energy levels and identifying your current stress hormone status is helpful in optimising health through both nutrition and lifestyle changes.

The stress hormone test simply requires you to collect four saliva samples throughout the day, which are sent to the laboratory for analysis. The laboratory will analyse your saliva for levels of cortisol and DHEA, which provide an indication of physiological stress. The results will be interpreted and explained to you during a  nutrition consultation.

The food intolerance test checks a small sample of blood for antibodies to 40 common foods, which can help to identify problem foods that you eat on a regular basis. Includes a personalised nutrition consultation to interpret the results.

A comprehensive laboratory analysis of your digestive function based on a stool sample combined with a nutrition consultation. The test evaluates digestion, absorption, gut flora, and the colonic environment, and checks for parasites using microscopic examination.

Vitamin D





Vitamin D is now recognised as one of the most important vitamin and knowing your Vitamin D status can be an important step toward optimal immune health. It has been estimated that more than 50% of the adult population have insufficient levels of Vitamin D and that 16% have severe deficiency during winter and spring. Vitamin D insufficiency has been linked to sub-optimal immune function. Your test results will help guide recommendations made during your nutrition consultation.
